We didn’t bother waiting for it to move before both of us started running. We didn’t know if it could catch us or not, but we weren’t taking any chances. My heart pounded in time with my footsteps on the pavement. At the moment I couldn’t even entertain the idea of what would happen if those things were able to get us. All I could think about was running.

The trees started to clear and the airport could be seen off to the right. Now, all we had to do was get to the main terminal. I didn’t know what we would be expecting when we got there, but we presumed that there would still be people here. Had we been stupid to even think that? What if it was just as empty as the roads? It didn’t matter; we had already come this far.
